The various types of helicopters used in external load flights, have different max. lifting capacity and weight limitations on repetetive cargolifts at standard conditions. It is very important in helicopter external load flights to not exceed these, as this can cause a lot of time for reloading.
Remember that in wet weather, dry cargo absorb moisture from the air and helicopter external load transport may increase weight ! Items like Leca blocks may increse by 20% in weight ! and not to speak about sand ! Weight limits are not the same regardless of weather. These are affected by the temperature, air pressure, altitude, etc., wind direction and strength. For example. lifting of building materials is limited by 750 kg as an economically efficient limit for repetetive lifts of helicopter external load.
